Thanks so much Martin and am really pleased that you like this painting. As you can probably see from the photo, the boats are off the beach and on a tarmacced harbour whilst undergoing some repairs. I think you’re right though that the image and composition is strong enough to take any number of interpretations!

Although I then saw the photo, I like to imagine it is low tide. Or winter storage on higher ground of same sand. Lovely! The colour doesn’t even have to be that of sand… could be a gray day :)

Thanks so much designsweet! Not sure if I’ve cracked it as, like you, I’ve usually tried to cram in too much detail from the photo in the past. I think that the combination of only ordering the smallest 6×4 prints and my deteriorating eyesight is helping to filter out the unnecessary details! Really appreciate you taking the time to comment
